CAD file is an abbreviation for Computer Aided Design file.

The electronic CAD file contains a digital design for a two or three dimensional model or object.

Used in conjunction with 3D printing, CAD files enable faster delivery of physical objects, by transmitting an electronic CAD file containing the design to a local printing machine, shortening the distance that the physical object is transported.
