The single day on which, under the UK government's proposals, the legal changes for the UK to leave the EU would take effect.
Brexit Day was 31 January 2020, the date on which the legal changes for the UK to leave the European Union took effect, subject to a transition period to 31 December 2020.
 
Following the triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty in March 2017 and subsequent two years of negotiations, the originally planned Brexit Day was to be Friday 29 March 2019 (at 11pm UK time).
 
On 14 March 2019 the UK parliament voted to seek an extension to this timing.
